Children circling on stage on 6th August
Held by the Culture Centre of Radio and Television in Daojiao town, a 15-day Cantonese Opera training course for 32 children ended with a wonderful performance on 6th August.
On a fourth floor classroom, a group of children prepared for the recital by following directions from teachers and rehearsing basic drills. As expected, the children received enthusiastic applause in appreciation of their full melodious vocals, beautiful movements and rhythm, which took nearly half a month to learn.
“We tend to cultivate those who really enjoy Cantonese Opera through the 15-day training courses. We hope to unearth successors for Cantonese Opera” said the head of the Culture Centre of Radio and Television.
More than 30 children signed up for the 15-day training courses and the youngest just 3 years old. There are 4 full-time teachers on the course, specially teaching children a series of performance skills such as Cantonese pronunciation, vocals, opera movements and opera posture.
